Alan B. Zimmerman
“In my first year living with PD, it has become clear to me that so many of us are hungry for information after our diagnoses, but do not know where to look. I look forward to helping the Parkinson’s Foundation advance its educational programs, to share information with those who need it most.”
Mr. Zimmerman is a veteran of the US Navy, as well as a retired real estate broker and small business owner. Earlier in his career, he worked in technical recruiting and business development with the Y-12 National Nuclear Security Complex.
Soon after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2014, he began the Knox Area Parkinson’s Club, a Facebook group that welcomes more than 100 members living with Parkinson’s disease from around the world. He is an active member of local Parkinson’s support groups.
He received his bachelor of arts in social sciences from Columbus State University.
