Ms. Wasson is a writer and editor who lends her skills and talents to Parkinson’s advocacy.
In the 16 years that Ms. Wasson has lived with the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, she has worked with every national Parkinson’s organization and many local and regional organizations as well – via writing, speaking, recruiting, advocating, and raising awareness. She and her husband, who also lives with Parkinson’s, spent two years criss-crossing the country recruiting for the Parkinson’s Action Network’s (PAN) grassroots army. In California, Ms. Wasson and her husband testified numerous times before the state legislature in support of the legalization and funding of embryonic stem cell research. They also helped found the working committee of people with Parkinson’s and researchers that passed legislation mandating a statewide Parkinson’s disease registry. They both also attended the World Parkinson Congresses in 2006 and 2010.
In her free time, Ms. Wasson writes and participates in an aquatic exercise class.
Ms. Wasson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Lawrence University and a Master of Library Science from the University of Wisconsin.
