There is Still Time to Make a Difference
We are now halfway through Parkinson’s Awareness Month and more than halfway to our goal of raising $100,000 through the Irving G. Brilliant Research Challenge (all of which will be matched by Mr. Brilliant)! In this week’s update, browse unique ideas for raising awareness and find out if one of our “PAIR Up for Parkinson’s Research” forums is coming to your community.
Spread the Word
How can you show the world the impact of Parkinson’s? Get ideas from Becky Pruitt Jarnagin of Elizabethton, TN, who decided to tie PDF ribbons on the trees around her community and from Linda Giorgilli, of Tampa, FL, who chose to write a letter to the editor of her local newspaper.
Educate Yourself and Others
How can you ensure that you and others have access to the latest information? Join one of PDF’s 25 “PAIR Up for Parkinson’s Research” educational forums taking place nationwide during April. Learn about local Parkinson’s research studies, how you and your loved ones can get involved and help to thank those who have participated in studies for their contributions. All forums are organized by the 156 Research Advocates who are part of PDF’s Parkinson’s Advocates in Research (PAIR) program in collaboration with local organizations.
Support the Cure
How can you support the cure? Become a partner in “Tulips Bloom for Parkinson’s.” See how Gristedes Supermarkets are partnering with us in the New York area. Are you coming to the Parkinson’s Unity Walk on Saturday, April 28 in New York, NY? Join the PDF Pacers team and be sure to stop by the PDF booth for educational materials and awareness gear!
How Are You Making a Difference?
Would you like to see your story featured in one of our e-newsletters? Send us updates about what you are doing to make a difference this April. Consider submitting your photo or video to the 2012 Make a Difference in the Fight Against Parkinson’s Photo and Video Campaign.
