PDF Announces New Leadership

On May 23, the Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF) elected two new leaders: Howard D. Morgan as Chair, and Constance Woodruff Atwell, Ph.D., as Vice Chair. Mr. Morgan, of Darien, CT, is Co-President of Castle Harlan, Inc., a leading private equity firm in New York, NY. Dr. Atwell, of Pinehurst, NC, retired several years ago as Director of the Division of Extramural Research at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

By building upon this foundation, my colleagues and I seek to accelerate progress for the people who are most invested in our success - the people who live with Parkinson's disease each day."

 

PDF Mourns Chairman Emeritus Page Morton Black

Page Morton Black, who worked for more than 40 years on behalf of the Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF), died on July 21. It was William Black, Mrs. Black's late husband and founder of the Chock full o'Nuts coffee and restaurant chain, who created PDF in 1957. Mrs. Black served as Secretary of PDF until assuming the role of Chairman after her husband's death in 1983. She resigned from the Board in 2012, serving as Chairman Emeritus until her death. In 2005, PDF presented Mrs. Black with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Robin Elliott, President of PDF said, "We have lost a much-loved, deeply admired and great ambassador for all those who live with Parkinson's disease. Page Morton BlackHer indomitable spirit will continue to be our inspiration in our quest for a cure for this terrible disease."
