Supporting PDF Through Your Workplace
Companies large and small support nonprofits and help their employees to give in numerous ways. The types of support range from small ad hoc donations to the sophisticated workplace giving programs often found in large multi-national companies. Finding out how your company might support the Parkinson's Disease Foundation is a valuable part you can play in helping to leverage funds for Parkinson's research. Below is a list of possible ways you might be able to support PDF through your workplace. Don't forget to ask other members of your family to find out how companies they work for might also support our work in finding the cause of and a cure for Parkinson's.
Matching gift programs
Many large corporations offer a matching gift program and will match your donation to PDF to help us raise much-needed funds. By finding out if your company operates a matching gift program, you'll discover a simple way you can double (or in a few cases, even triple!) your donation to PDF!
If you would like to receive an up-to-date list of companies operating matching gift programs, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (800) 457-6676. If your company is listed, you can obtain a matching gift form from your (or your spouse's) employer's personnel office, and follow the directions for initiating a matching gift.
Giving via payroll deductions
PDF is a proud member of Community Health Charities (CHC), a federation which enables employees to donate funds to leading charities directly from the workplace through their payroll. This makes for a simple way of giving to PDF and has tax advantages for you too!
To learn how to designate funds to PDF from your paycheck, contact the human resources or community relations department at your workplace.
If you are a government employee and would like to donate through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), make sure you designate PDF as your charity of choice by using the code 0557.
Visit our website at www.pdf.org/en/workplace_giving to find out if your employer is a national CHC participant. You can also talk to your personnel department to find out if your company already operates a payroll-giving program, or if you can help to initiate one.
Some companies have their own foundations, specifically established to give a percentage of company profits to charity. Some of these have specific purposes and can only give to designated causes while others have wider interests.
Check with your human resources department to find out if your company has a foundation and whether PDF might be eligible for a grant. Please call us for details and assistance if you think that PDF might qualify.
Often companies will nominate a nonprofit to benefit from an organized program of fundraising activities held throughout the year, or through a one-of-a-kind fundraising event. An annual fund-raising event or activity is a great way to involve employees in a fun activity and celebrate corporate achievements through workplace giving.
Find out if your company holds an annual fundraising activity and how you might go about putting PDF forward. If your company doesn't already have an organized event or program, talk to your PR or marketing personnel and ask them for their thoughts about how you might go about organizing a fundraising event for PDF. If you need ideas - please call us!
Sponsorship of PDF programs
Every year, PDF has a number of exciting programs that are available for sponsorship. These programs range from encouraging your company to attend our annual gala, Bal du Printemps, which takes place in New York City every spring, or sponsoring a major patient education publication or outreach program, to funding a scientific project or fellowship in your company's name.
If you think that your company may be sympathetic to PDF's mission and is able to contribute $10,000 or more, please contact us.
