SafeDose™: Your Own Calendar of (Medicinal) Events

So many of us are all too painfully familiar with the problem: juggling a variety of different medications during the course of the day, trying to remember what time to take the yellow one, how many of the green ones to take, and — as if it’s not already complicated enough — what the doctor told you just last week about changing the pattern of the blue ones so that you take fewer pills, less often.

Then along comes SafeDose™ — the kind of idea that is so simple, and so user-friendly, that people can’t figure out why no one thought of it before. One month’s supply of all the pills that are needed is inserted separately by the pharmacy into easy-to-open individual packets organized in sequence by day, date, dose, and time. The packets, joined together in a continuous, plastic-bag strip perforated between doses, are placed in a lightweight cardboard container and delivered to the patient’s door by the U. S. Postal Service or the private package delivery service of his/her choice.

What’s the cost of all this? Since the SafeDose™ company is a mail-order pharmacy as well as a customized packaging system, it claims to be able to offer prices that are “probably the same or less than what you’re paying now.” There’s no separate charge for the special packaging. SafeDose™ is recognized by more than 1,000 insurance companies, so insurance coverage should not be a problem in most cases.

For those times when a doctor may change a patient’s prescription, the service has a reassuring feature: computerized checking on the patient’s complete range of medications prior to each month’s delivery. This way, the service automatically keeps up to date with the doctor’s recommendations and the patient’s needs.

For further information, you may check the company’s web site at www.safedose.com or telephone them between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. CST Monday - Friday at (888)696-9595; (F) (888)881-8585; (E) info@safedose.com.

Their address is SafeDose™ Pharmacy, 8770 Guion Road (Ste. G), Indianapolis, IN 46268.
