NATIONAL PD DRUG TRIAL
- Feb 12 2002
A major, national drug study is about to get underway in 42 sites across North America to test the effectiveness of a variety of compounds in slowing the progression of Parkinson’s disease.
Sponsored by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) at NIH, under the direction of Karl Keiburtz, M.D. of the University of Rochester Medical Center (NY), the study will include recruiting up to 3,000 untreated PWPs across the US and Canada to test up to 60 potential agents—some already in use for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease as well as those still in a testing phase.
