What: A day-long seminar on Parkinson's disease
When: Saturday, April 6, 2002 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where: The Ramada Plaza Hotel
6600 North Mannheim Road, Rosemont, Illinois (NW corner of Mannheim and Higgins Road)
Who: Chicago's leading clinical and research specialists in the field of Parkinson's disease from Northwestern University, Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center, University of Illinois-Chicago and the University of Chicago, plus a guest speaker from Detroit's Henry Ford Hospital.
Ticket Price: The cost to attend is $15 for one person, and $25 for two (parking of approximately $8 is on the attendee). Lunch is included.

Basic sciences presentations will include:
- fetal and Stem Cell research
- drugs under investigation to slow or stop the progression of the disorder
- the study of genetics, the environment and trauma as possible factors in the development of PD
Clinical presentations will cover:
- currently available drug treatments
- Thalamotomy, Pallidotomy and DBS
- non-pharmacologic treatment options
- The epidemiology of Parkinson's (who gets it and who doesn't)
A lunchtime presentation by PDF Executive Director, Mr. Robin A. Elliott and National Parkinson Foundation Chapter Manager, Ms. Ruth Hagestuen will discuss plans for the Foundation (and for Chicago specifically) following the upcoming merger.
