PDF MEMBER SURVEY: QuADPaC

The PDF is an integral part of Quality, Access and Delivery of Parkinson’s Care (QuADPaC), a program supported by grants from the Sol Goldman Charitable Trust and the Atlanta Jewish Federation to study the patterns of health services, education, support and financing for people with PD.

To further this study, selected names from the PDF donor lists were mailed surveys asking questions about the level of care each receives, i.e., internist, general neurologist, movement disorders specialist and about their health insurance or Medicare coverage. While a more complete breakdown of the findings of this survey are available in the Summer/Fall 2000 edition of the PDF News, of particular note were the findings that of the more than 8000 respondents, only about one-third (35 %) reported being treated by a movement disorders specialist whereas five in ten (50%) said they are being managed by a primary care physician.

Also of note from this survey was the finding that while 69% said they were receiving some reimbursement (total or partial) for their doctor care, only about two-thirds (67%) received any reimbursement for their prescription drugs.
