Christine Colón, M.S., L.C.G.C.
San Diego, CA

Christine (Chris) Colón is a specialist in genetic counseling, patient education, and health literacy.  Her personal and career goals focus on providing relevant, readable, and comprehensible medical information for various populations.

Ms. Colón joined the Advisory Council because of a loved one who lives with the disease, and thus brings the perspective of care partner to the Advisory Council.

In her free time, Ms. Colón is actively involved in several volunteer projects within the genetic counseling and health literacy field, with a special focus on patient and provider education. In the past, she gave lectures on genetic counseling at local public schools. Ms. Colón currently serves as editor to genetic counseling related publications for the National Society of Genetic Counselors and Sarah Lawrence College.

Ms. Colón received her Bachelor’s degree from Mercy College and went on to receive her Masters of Science in Human Genetics at Sarah Lawrence College in 2011. After relocating to San Diego, CA in the summer of 2012, in October she became an American Board of Genetic Counseling Certified Genetic Counselor. In November, Ms. Colón was granted a Genetic Counseling License by the State of California.
