I have had PD since 9-30-97 and wonder when will lose my ability to function. With medications I continue to work and proceed ok though a bit slow.

I found out just last month that my Father has PD. I don't know what to expect and I am very worried. What should we be expecting from PD? My Father is only 43 and doctors say that he only has ten to fifteen years.

I was diagnosed with a very light case of Parkinson's in l983. I can do just about anything but have tremors rather well controlled by medicine. My balance is not very good anymore. Compared to other people I guess I am lucky. Does this mean that my condition may not deteriorate much
more? Thank you. (anonymous)
My Father-in-Law has been told that as he has had PD for fifteen years, any drugs he is given for PD will have little or no effect. Is there a 'LIFE' span on any or all PD drugs?
If there is what can we do to help keep him mobile? Is there any other
medication or treatment that will help?

According to the NINDS website, "PD is not by itself a fatal disease, but it does get worse with time." Why then is PD listed as the 14th leading cause of death in the US for 2003, the latest year for which data are available?
