Q:My father is 78 years old and has been diagnosed with PD and Alzheimer's. He was placed in a nursing home a year ago. His appetite had been good until about December of last year. Since then we have experienced a sharp decline. He even says that he wishes he was hungry. He was on Ativan and has been slowly switched to Zyprexa, but I am not seeing an increase in appetite. I believe this is causing dehydration. He can't take anything too strong because it causes him to not rest but just be zoned out. Is there any anti-depressant or PD medicine or Alzheimer's medicine that stimulates appetite? (anonymous)Show Answer
