Q:My 79 year old Dad has had PD since he was 65. He is currently falling multiple times a day, receiving stitches in his face often. Doctors have adjusted his medications as recently as 2 weeks ago but falls continue. He has tried several walkers to no avail. My mother can't turn her back on him for fear of a fall. I fear a wheelchair will compound the problem as he would become more rigid. What else should we do? I fear a fall could take my mother down with him, and he would suffer a serious blow to the head. She is walking with a walker and a gait belt with her therapist every day. She is "toe walking" and this seems to be inhibiting her progress. What could be causing this? (JC)Show Answer
