Q:Can Stalevo be prescribed to a 91 year old man with PD who has respiratory problem? I read in a Stalevo literature that Stalevo has not been tested to patients over 75 years old. Also, if a patient has respiratory problem, Staelvo should not be given. (EL)Show Answer

Q:When first diagnosed with Parkinson's about 1-2 years ago, I was on Sinemet every 8 hours...now I am taking it every 5. If, as the PD progresses, the interval times of taking the medication becomes shorter, what happens when I am taking the medication at 1- 2 hour intervals? Q:My 71 year-old mother was just diagnosed with PD this fall by a local neurologist. He told her that he would not recommend any medications right now because the current PD meds usually start to lose effectiveness after about 5 years. He said that it would be better to wait until her symptoms worsened, so that she would gain the maximum benefit from the medication. Is this accurate? (anonymous)Show Answer

Q:My husband's doctor has said that right now my husband has a mild case of Parkinson's if there is such a thing. He has been on Eldepryl for a year and Mirapex for a couple of days. His main symptoms are rigidity, slow movements and small handwriting plus now he has developed a resting tremor which we hope that the Mirapex will help. My question is are there patients that remain mild and can stay on the same medication for many years without too much progression of the disease? Also what medication do you recommend for someone in the stage that my husband is in?Show Answer
