Q:I've been on Mirapex for a few months (1.5 mg 3 times a day, last dose at 5:30 PM), in addition to Sinemet. I don't have trouble falling asleep at night, but I wake up after 4-6 hours and can't fall asleep again. I know insomnia is a side effect of Mirapex, but it's hard to believe it could keep me awake 10 hours or so after the last pill. Does this sound like a side effect to you, or might it be a new symptom of PD? (DM)Show Answer

Q:My mother has PD and takes Sinemet and Mirapex. During the week she uses a walker to live independently in her mobile home. Every Sat, I drive 1 hr to take her to a large grocery store. Regardless of when the medications are taken, and without protein sources, the rigidity & stuck feet on the floor with walking occurs part way through the store. Does an event of increased activity or the patient becoming anxious (out in public place) require more dopamine, or does the activity compete with the medications? (PB)Show Answer
