I was diagnosed with early-onset PD some fifteen years ago and I had been showing symptoms since I was about 25.
People often think that PD is "merely" a movement disorder. It isn't. The sense of depression and anxiety can be overwhelming.
I wrote the song "Sea of Shadows" when I was starting to fall apart. The song can be heard at:
Sea of Shadows
Count each digit one by one
Stars go on forever
Like tired years
Like lonely lives
They go on forever
The moon is so lonely tonight
I can feel it staring through my window
Iím searching for something desperately
But all I see is a sea of shadows
Press your fingers against my skin
Feel my body tremble
I think Iím alive
But Iím not sure
If this is really living.
P.S. I can only thank my doctors who keep patching up and somehow keep me going. I would also like to thank my friends who are there through thick and thin. Special thanks to Jķlia Barůn for helping me finish the lyrics to this song.Posted by Joseph Hilferty on April 26, 2010
