Hi I'm a 56 year old male. I have had Parkinson's disease for 12yrs and I would like to share my story.
After being told at 44yrs that I had PD I had a choice I could curl up in the fetal position or do what I did. The decision was to put my body and mind into the best shape possible.I chose a diet and exercise program to help me avoid other disease. I didn't want PD and something else. I go to the gym everyday, by choice and I eat in moderation.
The result is a fit and healthy body that I'm proud of and one that functions properly. PD is evident by tremor on the left side which I control with medication.
The other medicine I take is provided by myself and that is laughter. My note book is called "a whole lotta shakin goin on." and the title of the book I will write is titled " you can't make this stuff up- the trials and tribuations of a middle aged toilet paper salesman."
Remember this: PD is not who you are it's what you have. Who you are is up to you.
I believe that diet and exercise along with laughter are the best meds and by the way the least expensive.
Bless you - Pete Gaylord
