Special PDF Champion Update: Run the NYC Marathon for Parkinson's!  PDF is happy to announce it has two remaining PDF Champion spots available for the ING New York City marathon, which will take place on Sunday November 7, 2010.  Runners must meet minimum fundraising requirements and will receive assistance from PDF staff as well as singlet and other race gear! How can you make a difference in the Parkinson's cause? Become a PDF Champion!

PDF Champions are the dedicated indidividuals - often those with Parkinson's as well as their friends, family and colleagues - who give their time and energy to raise  awareness for Parkinson's and funds for PDF in their local communities.  PDF Champions have helped to move the cause forward by organizing bake sales, running marathons, participating in bike rides, walking in walk-a-thons and more!  Other PDF Champions choose instead to create a personal page on the PDF website in honor of a loved one with Parkinson's. 

Whichever program is your preference to work on, we can help!  The PDF Champions fundraising program can assist generous individuals like you plan your customized efforts to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson's disease – with our support and tips.

We Can Help!

When you become a PDF Champion, you will be able to use our 'how-to' handbook and make your own personalized webpage, where family and friends can view fundraising goals and event pictures, and make an online donation toward your event! You can even make your donation page in honor of or in memory of a loved one.

As a PDF Champion, you will also receive official PDF endorsement of your event, technical assistance, PDF materials and recognition on our website.

If you want to join our cause, either send your registration form to PDF or sign up online! For the first option, download our fundraising packet and fill out the fundraiser registration form (the last page of the packet). Fax or mail the form to PDF to PDF at 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509 /New York, NY 10018 / Fax: (212) 923-4778.  We will review your registration and contact you to help get you started and to answer any questions. 

You can also register online. Complete the registration form and follow the instructions to start designing your page immediately! On your web page you can write about why you are raising funds for PDF and upload photos and icons. Email your webpage link to all of your contacts!

Fundraising Ideas

Here are a few event ideas, but many PDF Champions come up with their own unique ideas.  Browse below or design your own!

• Organize an Event
  Running in a marathon? Walking, biking, sailing or bowling? For any of the events you organize or participate in, you can create an online sponsor page so your friends, family and colleagues can lend their support.
  
• Click to a Cure
  You do not have to have an event to help.  You can create a personal fundraising page with your story about why you are raising funds for Parkinson's.  Email the link to your contacts and ask them to help support the cause.
  
• Honor a Loved One
  Honor someone you love who lives with Parkinson's disease by creating an online giving page as a tribute to a family member or friend.
  
• Create a Memorial Fund
  If you have lost a loved one and wish to pay tribute to them, you can create a special memorial fund online.  Upload pictures, stories and memories to share their life and legacy with others.
