PAN Alert: Ask your Representative to Support the DoD Parkinson's Research Program

The Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF) has received another important update from the Parkinson's Action Network (PAN) about increased federal Parkinson's research funding.

From PAN:

Signatures Needed!

With all of the fiscal challenges still facing federal funding, we need as strong of a bipartisan show of support for the DoD Parkinson's program as possible for Fiscal Year (FY) 2015. Your hard work helped to ensure that this program was fully funded this year at $16 million, but your voice is needed again.

Under the leadership of Representatives Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Peter King (R-NY), and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Parkinson's Disease, a letter is circulating asking for $16 million in funding for the Department of Defense (DoD) Parkinson's research program in Fiscal Year (FY) 2015 – and we have just a few days left to get as many signatures of support as we can.

Take Action

Please contact your Representative today and ask him or her to sign the letter in support of Parkinson's research at the DoD. The deadline to secure signatures is 5:00 PM on Friday, March 28.

For those of you whose Representative has already signed on, please take this opportunity to say a word of thanks for their support.

First, send a message to staff.

Then, follow up with a call to share with them the importance of the program.

Here is the current list of signers:

Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), Peter T. King (R-NY), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Charles B. Rangel (D-NY), Bruce Braley (D-IA), Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL), Paul D. Tonko (D-NY), C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), Hank Johnson (D-GA), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ), Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH), Judy Chu (D-CA), Albio Sires (D-NJ), David N. Cicilline (D-RI), Collin C. Peterson (D-MN), Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.), Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD), Corrine Brown (D-FL), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ), Keith Ellison (D-MN), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), Steve Cohen (D-TN), Brad Schneider (D-IL), Katherine Clark (D-MA), Ron Barber (D-AZ), and Gus Bilirakis (R-FL).

Take Action!
