PAN Alert: Help Repeal Medicare Coverage Barriers
- Jul 11 2013
The Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF) has received another important update from the Parkinson's Action Network (PAN) about funding therapy services.
Many with Parkinson's disease use physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy services to maintain their quality of life and independence. Unfortunately, Medicare limits or "caps" the amount it will pay for these therapy services in a calendar year. The cap on therapy services places an undue burden on many individuals with Parkinson's and other diseases whose annual costs for these services exceed the cap.
While PAN works every year to ensure Congress passes an exception to the cap, a permanent solution is needed to ensure people with Parkinson's and other diseases will never be denied medically necessary therapy services. That is why PAN supports the Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act of 2013, which would repeal the Medicare therapy caps. Please contact your Members of Congress and ask them to co-sponsor the Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act of 2013 (H.R. 713/S. 367).
PAN is the voice of the Parkinson's community in Washington, DC. In fiscal year 2013, PDF is supporting PAN with a grant of $200,000.
