PDF Mourns the Loss of Board Member Daniel Gersen

The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF) mourns the loss of Daniel Gersen, a member of its Board of Directors who passed away on September 20 at the age of 94.

Mr. Gersen served as an advisor to PDF for more than 30 years, both as a Board member and as its legal counsel.  Among his many contributions, he was most well known for his unwavering dedication to PDF’s programs of research, education and advocacy.

During his illustrious 70-year legal career, Mr. Gersen worked with clients in the areas of commercial litigation, labor and employment law, banking and finance, corporate law and trusts and estates.  Most recently, he was of Counsel to the firm of Wolf Haldenstein.  Previously, he was senior partner of his own firm, Gersen, Blakeman & Ackert.

Mr. Gersen was a graduate of Amherst College and received his LLB from Columbia University.  He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, during which time he was stationed in India.

PDF Executive Director Robin Elliott noted, “ On behalf of PDF’s Board of Directors and staff, we mourn the loss, and honor the memory, of a devoted member and advisor of many years standing.  His erudition, curiosity and unfailing loyalty served our mission, elevated our discussions, and warmed our hearts.  To his wife Adeline and the family, we extend our personal condolences and our gratitude for the life and friendship of a wise and honorable man.”
