This intensive, all-expenses paid, three-day training program is designed to prepare people living with Parkinson’s disease to serve as advocates within the clinical research process. The application period for the 2009 Clinical Research Learning Institute is now open and will close on Friday, July 17. To be eligible for the Learning Institute, an applicant must be a person with Parkinson’s disease, living in either the United States or Puerto Rico.
The Learning Institute prepares participants for specific activities, including: increasing knowledge of clinical research and study participation in the PD community; providing the perspective of a person with Parkinson's in the clinical research process; and serving as formal representatives on clinical research review and advisory boards.
It includes educational sessions and break-out workshops led by leading clinical researchers, study coordinators, government and industry representatives and former Learning Institute graduates.
PDF offers ongoing educational and networking opportunities after the Learning Institute, where graduates regularly share knowledge and compare best practices.
