PDF Champion to Run NYC Half Marathon for Parkinsonís Research in Memory of Mother on Sunday, March 16
- Feb 27 2014
Chad Moir of Seymour, CT, is on the run for Parkinson’s research. He will run 13.1 miles in the New York City Half Marathon in New York, NY, on Sunday, March 16 to raise money for the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF) in memory of his mother who lived with the disease.
Mr. Moir, 29, works as a personal trainer in Fairfield, CT. He has been active in the cause since his late mother, Cindy, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at age 50. With a goal of completing a full marathon someday, he was inspired to take on his first half marathon to benefit PDF in his mother’s honor.
“My mother struggled with symptoms for many years before she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and I saw how rapidly it affected her. By raising money in her honor, I hope that I can make a difference in someone else’s life with Parkinson’s and spread more awareness about the disease,” says Mr. Moir.
Working with the PDF Champions program, the grassroots fundraising arm of the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, Mr. Moir hopes to exceed his fundraising goal of $2,000 by race day. His family, friends and fitness clients are already rallying behind him as he trains to run through the heart of New York City with more than 14,000 other runners.
PDF President Robin Elliott added, “We are grateful for PDF Champions like Mr. Moir who are dedicated to funding the most promising research and raising awareness about the impact of Parkinson’s. His efforts to help PDF improve the lives and futures of the nearly one million people across the country living with Parkinson’s are inspiring.”
