Annual Concert To Benefit Parkinsons Research

White Plains, NY resident David Eger, Ph.D., is bringing local musicians together to fight Parkinson's disease at the 10th annual Music for Parkinson's concert, with a goal of raising $50,000 for research.

The concert will take place from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Sunday, December 9 at the Dunn Performing Arts Center, Rye Country Day School in Rye, NY. Music for Parkinson's Research, the organization hosting the event, is asking the community to help them top their previous fundraising record to benefit the research programs of the Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF).

The Music for Parkinson's concert typically draws over 150 people and has raised more than $400,000 for Parkinson's research since its inception. This year's program will feature performances by premier musicians such as the Attacca Quartet, an internationally acclaimed ensemble; pianist Gena Raps, a Julliard graduate and faculty member at The New School; and John Stine, one of the event's co-founders and principal clarinetist of the St. Thomas Chamber Music Players. Guests are invited to a wine and cheese reception with the musicians following the concert.

This year, the concert will also include a special recognition of Dr. Eger, a former PDF Board Member with Parkinson's, for his vital role in developing the concert.

"With each note played and every dollar raised, we help give hope to those touched by Parkinson's," he remarked on the concerts' impact. "The tenth anniversary of Music for Parkinson's will continue to move research forward and bring us one step closer to a cure."

PDF Executive Director, Robin Elliott, added, "We are thrilled to work with MPR again for the tenth anniversary of this wonderful concert and to recognize Dr. Eger for his continued dedication to the Parkinson's cause. The efforts by Dr. Eger and MPR to help PDF improve the lives and futures of the nearly one million people across the country living with Parkinson's are inspiring."
