11-Year-Old Girl Fights To Find A Cure For Her Parents Diseases

TV3 Winchester Streaming Video - of the money I raise goes to Multiple Sclerosis and the other half goes to Parkinson's" says 11-year-old, Lauren Blum. She was only a baby when her parents were diagnosed with their diseases.

"I always used to worry about were they going to die and what is going to happen. You could never really know what's going to happen with these diseases except they can't die. When I was younger, I didn't understand that."

 Zumbathon at James Wood Middle Schoool Saturday November 10th, 10am until noon.

Her parents, Carrie and Tim Blum have asked why something like this could happen to both of them, but with the help from their two kids, they keep going. "Most of the time I feel much worse than anybody around me realizes, but you know, it is what it is. I'm not here to complain," says her father, Tim.

"You can't really do anything but try and find a cure. That's what we're going to do. We're going to raise money and hope to get a cure," says Lauren.

They say, 20 years ago, there was nothing that could help. Now, there is medicine and surgeries that can help dull the symptoms they feel every day. They want you to know money towards research does work.

"You raise your kids to be the best that they can possibly be. We're in our early fourties, so I wouldn't expect help from my kids now, give it a couple of years," says her mother, Carie.

Lauren wants to raise $1,000 dollars at a Zumbathon she's hosting at James Wood Middle School. Her parents could not be more proud of her and her brother, for what they have overcome. "I don't know that they're okay, but their motivation is inspiring to me," says Tim.
