- Jul 25 2011
Research Advocate Ronnie Wanetick of California has shared with the Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF) that her personal story, My Journey to Advocacy, has been published in a community newsletter.
PDF Research Advocates are the more than 100 individuals who work with the Parkinson's Advocates in Research program (PAIR). They are partnering with others around the country to strengthen the role that people with Parkinson’s play in the design and implementation of Parkinson’s research and programs.
Ms. Wanetick's story shares details of how she came to be an advocate and how she works with study coordinators at prominent movement disorder centers and her support group (www.pnmd.net) to impact Parkinson's research. This story is now featured in the newsletter of Parkinson's Patient Support Groups, Inc., an organization of support groups that serves the San Francisco Bay area. Browse her article on pages four and five of this link.
Ms. Wanetick said, "The article comes at a time when the next class of potential, effective 2011 advocates are being selected. I hope My Journey to Advocacy inspires more qualified, enthusiastic candidates to apply. I believe that the information it contains will help encourage and validate our work in the community at large. I want to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to represent PDF."
