Bursaw Featured in Quilt Show
- Apr 28 2011
Newbury's Andrea Bursaw has helped to bring a piece of the Parkinson's Quilt to the Merrimack Valley Quilters Guild's annual quilt show this weekend.
The quilt will be included in the show as part of Parkinson's Awareness Month. The display will be open to the public tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Parkinson's Quilt is an initiative led by the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
Bursaw, who has a close friend with Parkinson's, created a 2-by-2-foot quilt panel based on a picture of a dragon drawn by her close friend's 8-year-old son. Her panel was sewn together with 16 others to form a piece of the quilt that will be at the quilt show in New Hampshire this weekend.
"The 17 panels of the Parkinson's quilt block that I will be displaying all combine beautifully, and I believe that they will attract the attention of the community," Bursaw said in a statement. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to display a piece of the Parkinson's Quilt at the annual quilt show and believe that it will raise awareness and educate people about Parkinson's disease."
