Your Donation Has Made a Difference
My name is Kate DeWitte and I am a senior in high school. Parkinson's is very close to my heart for my father lives with the disease. For my Senior Project, I have been raising awareness of PD and have now raised $1,500 for PDF. Like your generous donation, this gift will be matched through the Light of Day Foundation Challenge, which has now reached $79,320.50!
Kids Can Make a Difference Too
My father was diagnosed in 2005 just before my 10th birthday. PD is a subject that is difficult to understand, and very hard on a family. When I started to see the progression of Parkinson’s disease in my dad, I wished there was another kid just like me who understood what it felt like to go through the same thing.
So when I was asked to create a year-long school project that was "community enhancing," I chose Parkinson's awareness.
I worked to educate my classmates about Parkinson’s through presentations and an awareness billboard. I fundraised by selling handmade snowflakes in the winter, organizing Zumba classes and hosting a bake sale.
I hope that these small efforts have helped to educate others about PD, and I know that the $1,500 raised will turn into $3,000 because of the Light of Day Foundation Challenge.
Sometimes we think our contributions are small. But they can add up – like yours and mine will this April.
Thank you for making a donation that will help fund educational programs and research. Kids can make a difference too!
