After almost 30 years of high-tech engineering in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence fields, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and eventually had to resign from full-time work and strenuous activities. About this time, my first grandchild was born and I began to create handmade wooden toys for him. Others soon admired these gifts and asked if I would make some for them, too. Drawing on our family's heritage of hand-crafting gifts, and my many years of engineering experience, I began custom designing gifts and toys uniquely based on the beauty and durability of exotic hard woods, but with the nostalgic spirit of yesteryear.
While I only average 2 to 3 hours each day when I am steady enough to safely use the power tools, I am able to mentally create and design new products throughout most days. I started Sunnywood Studios as a "hobby" enterprise to provide an outlet for my creative energy and have discovered this activity to be therapeutic.
Winston Churchill once said "Never, Never, Never Quit." and I encourage everyone to find ways to use their limitations as stepping-stones to greater achievements.
