I am a retired Family Practitioner who was diagnosed in 2006 with Parkinsonism. I retired the same week because of turning 65 and finding some of the demands of medicine becoming more difficult, especially the handwriting. I had dabbled in art earlier in life, but had never approached it very seriously until I found myself with more time on my hands, especially in the winter time, when I can't garden (one of my other passions).
The PD does not significantly limit my ability to paint at this time, and the painting serves as a distraction from any symptoms I may have. Now, I find nothing more gratifying than to create paintings and share them with family and friends. I even had a one person art show at a local art center in the fall of 2007.
