Essay:
Art, and music in particular, are very therapeutic for me. I get lost in writing music and lyrics. It gives me a sense of self-worth.
When my meds cooperate I can play effectively, but I've learned to be patient with the PD after living with it for almost 14 years. When my meds aren't working or I can't sleep, I take advantage of it and try to think of a lyric for a song or a musical part. PD has forced me to retire from my job, but it has enabled me to have the time to create my music.
