Donate to PDF Ė While You Make Money!
Giving through your place of work is one of the most convenient ways for you to support the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF). You do not have to think about sending in a form, writing a check or typing out your information online. Instead, your employer deducts, before tax, the amount you have requested — $5, $10, $25 or more — from each paycheck and sends it off to PDF!
Many businesses already have year-round workplace giving campaigns in place — either one that they have created themselves or by participating in a campaign such as the United Way. The first step to contributing via your workplace is to ask your human resources office which options are available to you.
One campaign that your company may participate in is Community Health Charities (CHC). CHC is a federation of America’s premier health agencies that have partnered to raise charitable contributions in the workplace. It is the country’s largest federation devoted exclusively to health, representing America’s most respected and well-known charities (including PDF). If your company is not currently a corporate partner of Community Health Charities, you can contact them at (800) 654-0845 or visit www.healthcharities.org and find out how to set up a campaign in your workplace.
PDF is also a member of the Combined Federal Campaign (www.opm.gov/cfc/), which promotes pledges made by federal, civilian, postal and military donors during a specified campaign season which runs from September 1 to December 15. If you are a government employee and would like to donate through the Combined Federal Campaign, make sure that you designate PDF as your charity of choice.
No matter what option you choose, giving through your workplace is a rewarding and convenient way to make a difference in the fight against Parkinson’s disease. And do not forget to ask if your employer matches your contribution. It could double or even triple your gift to support Parkinson’s research, education and advocacy!
