Named Chair Honors Columbia’s Clinical Services Chief

Cheryl Waters, M.D., FRCP(C)
Dr. Cheryl Waters, professor of clinical neurology at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons (P&S) and chief of patient clinical services at the Center for Parkinson’s Disease and Other Movement Disorders at the Neurological Institute of New York, last month was named the first Albert B. and Judith L. Glickman Professor of Clinical Neurology.

The Albert B. & Judith L. Glickman Professorship was established with a $1.1 million lead gift by Albert & Judith Glickman. Mr. & Mrs. Seymour Jacoby provided a second major gift of $225,000 and various other people contributed the remainder of the funds needed to establish the professorship.

Over the course of Dr. Waters’s career, she has built a national reputation as a clinician-educator, author, and Parkinson’s disease researcher. She was quoted as saying, “I am delighted to be granted this honor at this time in my career and am particularly indebted to the Glickmans and the Jacobys for their profound generosity.”
