Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson’s Disease (Third Edition)
This 40-page booklet discusses deep brain stimulation (DBS), the most common surgery performed to treat Parkinson's disease (PD).  It reviews the history of DBS, discusses the procedures currently available, and advises people with Parkinson's both how to prepare for surgery and how to maintain their health post-surgery.  It also asesses risks of DBS, answers frequently-asked questions , including "Who is a good candidate for surgery?" - and discusses the future of surgery for PD.

Clinical Research Publications

 PDF is committed to examining and addressing barriers to clinical research participation.  We publish roundtable reports discussing such barriers and possible solutions.  The first in a series of three reports is now available.

Building Patient Trust
This report summarizes the proceeding and findings of a 2007 roundtable discussion that explored barriers to clinical research: specifically how the Parkinson’s community can improve patient trust in the process.  Participants included people with Parkinson’s, researchers, industry representatives and members of government.
