Motivating Moves for People with Parkinson's

The importance of exercise for a person with Parkinson's has long been recognized as essential to disease management and improved quality of life. Motivating Moves for People with Parkinson's is an award-winning program of 24 seated exercises, co-produced and distributed by the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.

The exercises are specifically designed to address typical Parkinson's movement challenges such as stability, flexibility, posture, vocal range and facial expressivity.

The program not only provides people with Parkinson's with a structured and carefully planned exercise program specific to Parkinson's, but it engages people in a motivating and fun exercise routine. The exercises can be done alone, with a caregiver or in a group.

The 90-minute video or DVD is divided into three sections: "How to Do Motivating Moves" (45 minutes), "The Exercise Class" (36 minutes) and "Practical Tips for Daily Living" (4 minutes). Original music was composed and performed for each exercise by Juilliard composer and pianist Robert Abramson.

The program is available on VHS videotape, DVD, PAL or SECAM international videotape formats for $14.95, plus shipping and handling. Order forms are available for secure online purchasing, or can be downloaded and faxed to (212) 923-4778 or emailed to info@pdf.org. To order by phone, please call PDF at (800) 457-6676.

It is the only exercise video I've seen that speaks to the whole person."

Harriet Lerner, author of The Dance of Anger

"The combination of a really good leader - Janet contributes enormously to this - and the sequences matched to the music may motivate people to be more faithful about doing this than other kinds of exercise they've been assigned to do."
